Homemade Fish Seasoning Fishcakes
Golden, crisp fishcakes with a soft, flaky centre are brilliant for an easy family tea and a delicious way to make simple ingredients shine.

🧂 Ingredients
- 500g floury potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 350g skinless white fish fillets
- 2 tsp Fish Seasoning
- 2 spring onions, finely sliced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- 1 lemon, finely grated zest
- 50g plain flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 100g breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
🔪 Method
- Boil the potatoes in lightly salted water for 15 minutes until tender, then drain, mash and leave to steam dry.
- Poach the fish gently in simmering water for 5–7 minutes until it flakes. Drain well and break into large pieces.
- Fold the fish, Fish Seasoning, spring onions, parsley and lemon zest into the mash. Shape into eight fishcakes and chill for 20 minutes.
- Coat each fishcake in flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs.
- Heat the oil in a large frying pan and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side until crisp, golden and piping hot.

- Serve with peas, salad and lemon wedges.
- Add a poached egg for a leisurely brunch.
- Make smaller fishcakes for lunchboxes or starters.
