Fruity Stuffing Seasoning-Crusted Macaroni Cheese

Creamy macaroni cheese with a crisp golden Fruity Stuffing Seasoning crumb topping.

Macaroni cheese is even better with a crunchy top, and Fruity Stuffing Seasoning turns ordinary breadcrumbs into something far more interesting. Its savoury fruit-and-herb character cuts through the creamy cheese sauce and makes every spoonful feel properly finished.

This is an easy family dinner in its own right, but it also works as an indulgent side dish for roast meats, sausages or seasonal vegetables.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 300g dried macaroni
  • 40g butter
  • 40g plain flour
  • 600ml milk
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 200g mature cheddar, grated
  • 50g Parmesan or extra cheddar, grated
  • For the topping: 100g fresh breadcrumbs
  • 1½ tbsp Fruity Stuffing Seasoning
  • 30g melted butter

🍴 Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 190°C fan / 210°C conventional. Cook the macaroni for 2 minutes less than the packet instructions, then drain.
  2. Melt 40g butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and simmer gently for 4–5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from the heat. Stir in the mustard, cheddar and half the Parmesan until smooth, then fold in the macaroni.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish. Mix the breadcrumbs, Fruity Stuffing Seasoning, melted butter and remaining cheese, then scatter evenly over the top.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden. Rest for 5 minutes before serving.

⏱️ Timings

  • Prep: 15 minutes
  • Cook: 35 minutes
  • Serves: 4–6

🥗 Serving Suggestions

Serve with a sharp green salad or steamed broccoli. Add cooked leeks, peas or leftover roast vegetables before baking if you want to stretch the dish.

💛 Why This Recipe Works

Slightly undercooking the pasta prevents it becoming soft in the oven. Butter coats the seasoned breadcrumbs so they brown evenly and stay crisp above the creamy sauce.
