Slow-Cooked Lamb Biryani
Tender lamb and aromatic rice make a rich family-style biryani designed for relaxed weekend cooking.
⏱️ Prep, Cook & Serve
Prep: 25 minutes | Cook: 2 hours | Serves: 6
🧂 Ingredients
- 700g diced lamb shoulder
- 2 tbsp Biryani Masala
- 300g basmati rice
- 2 onions, sliced
- 400g chopped tomatoes
- 300ml lamb stock
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 20g ginger, grated
- Mint and yoghurt, to serve
🔪 Method
- Brown the lamb in oil and remove.
- Soften onions; reserve half, then add garlic, ginger and spice.
- Return lamb with tomatoes and stock; cover and simmer for 75 minutes.
- Part-cook rinsed rice for 6 minutes, drain and layer over lamb.
- Cover and cook for 25 minutes, then rest and finish with onions and mint.
🍽️ Serving Suggestions
Serve with raita, fresh salad or warm flatbread, depending on the occasion.
