Ethiopian-Inspired Berbere Beef Tibs with Peppers
This fast Ethiopian-inspired beef dish pairs tender seared steak with peppers, tomato and the warming aromatics in Berbere Spice Blend. Cooking over a high heat keeps the vegetables lively and builds delicious browned edges.
🥣 Ingredients
- 600g rump or sirloin steak, cut into strips
- 2 tbsp Berbere Spice Blend
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 red pepper, sliced
- 1 green pepper, sliced
- 1 red onion, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- ½ lemon
👩🍳 Instructions
- Toss the beef with 1 tbsp seasoning and 1 tbsp oil.
- Heat a large frying pan until very hot. Sear the beef in two batches for 2–3 minutes, then remove.
- Add remaining oil, peppers and onion; stir-fry for 5 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, garlic and remaining seasoning. Cook for 2 minutes, then return the beef for 1–2 minutes.
- Finish with lemon juice and serve immediately.
