BBQ Beasty Chicken Drumsticks with Charred Corn

BBQ Beasty chicken drumsticks with charred sweetcorn and lime yoghurt on an outdoor table.

Golden, juicy and satisfyingly smoky, these chicken drumsticks are made for easy summer eating. Our BBQ Beasty Spice Blend seasons the skin beautifully while a little honey helps it caramelise.

They work equally well on the barbecue or in the oven, and the charred corn with cool lime yoghurt keeps the whole plate fresh and family-friendly.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tbsp BBQ Beasty Spice Blend
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp runny honey
  • 1 lime
  • 4 corn cobs, halved
  • 150g natural yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped chives or parsley

🍴 Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken dry. Mix the BBQ Beasty Spice Blend with 1 tbsp oil, the honey and the finely grated zest of half the lime, then rub over the drumsticks.
  2. Cover and marinate for 30 minutes, or chill for up to 12 hours.
  3. For the oven, heat to 200°C fan and roast for 35–40 minutes, turning once. For the barbecue, cook over medium indirect heat for 25–30 minutes, turning regularly. The thickest part should reach 75°C.
  4. Brush the corn with the remaining oil and cook for 10–12 minutes, turning until tender and charred.
  5. Mix the yoghurt with the herbs and juice from half the lime.
  6. Rest the chicken for 5 minutes, then serve with the corn, lime yoghurt and remaining lime wedges.

🥗 Serving Suggestions

Serve with crunchy slaw, a tomato salad or warm flatbreads for wrapping everything together.

💛 Why This Recipe Works

Drying the chicken first helps the skin brown, while indirect barbecue heat cooks the drumsticks through without burning the seasoning.
